Wayne Valley 58, Bergen Tech 43: Senior Kurbin Kukaj dropped in 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Valley (1-0). Nick Siljee collected 17 points and eight boards for the winners. Mark Tucker and Tom Larranaga registered 7 points apiece. Jason Rosenberg had 7 points and 7 assists. Tucker also had four rebounds and three assists.
Paterson Kennedy 76, Wayne Hills 58: Chris Fonti led Wayne Hills (0-1) with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Joe Brandl chipped in with 20, including six 3-pointers. Hills fell behind 18-4 in the first half. They fought back valiantly, but could not extricate itself from that hole.
"Kennedy is a great team," said Hills coach Jim Catalano. "It was a tough way to open. We showed what we can do in the second half."
DePaul 53, Bergen Catholic 49: Matt Miller paced DePaul with 19 points.
