5/14/09: DePaul 6, Pequannock 2: Matt Carlson and Len DeFillipo homered for DePaul. John Chorba and Joe Grimaldi knocked in runs. Jesus Vasquez earned the win.
5/8/09: Passaic County Tournament, First Round: Passaic Valley 4, DePaul 2: It has been a rough season for DePaul (No. 12, 4-13). The Spartans, however, did not play like a struggling team against the surging Passaic Valley (No. 5). Pitcher Kevin Croucher allowed only one hit in the first three innings and struck out eight in six innings. Aside from his rough showing in the fourth, he was able to stymie the PV bats.
DePaul was also clicking offensively. Ryan Carroll, Joe Grimaldi and A.J. Mott had two hits apiece. Carroll and T.J. Kowal knocked in the team’s runs. Kowal, Steve Alfano, Matt Carlson, John Chorba and Nick Fondacano had hits. The Spartans notched at least one hit in every inning. And after being held scoreless through the first six innings, they brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the seventh. But Zaneski fought through control problems to get the final out and send his team to the second round.
5/6/09: DePaul 4, Passaic Tech 3: Matt Carlson of DePaul (4-11) pitched five innings for the victory and A.J. Mott knocked in a run. Justin Schunk hit a two-run homer for Passaic Tech (4-11)
4/28/09: West Milford 7, DePaul 5: A.J. Mott hit two singles and had two RBI for DePaul (3-9).
4/17/09: Madison 6, DePaul 4: Steve Alfano, Ryan Carroll and T.J. Kowal batted in runs for DePaul.
4/16/09: DePaul 9, Butler 7: Matt Chaney and T.J. Kowal knocked in three runs apiece. Matt Carlson, A.J. Mott, and Ryan Carroll knocked in one each.
4/14/09: DePaul 16, Orange 0: Nick Puglisi threw a two-hitter and Steve Alfano contributed four RBI, including a two-run homer, and Matt Carlson belted a three-run homer for DePaul (1-3) in Wayne.
4/2/09: Wayne Valley 13, DePaul 0: Sophomore K.C. Abel belted two home runs, including a grand slam, to lift Wayne Valley to an opening day win. Abel finished with seven RBI. Pitcher Pete Savastano allowed just three hits. Jon Dubnoff knocked in three runs. Ryan Durr and Mark Trauppmann batted in two runs apiece. Matt Carlson suffered the loss for DePaul.
