1/28/09: Rosenberg Update: According to a family friend, Wayne Valley point guard Jason Rosenberg was diagnosed with a sprained neck. He spent the night in the hospital and was released this morning. He is not expected to miss much time. It came as welcome news to both the Wayne Valley and DePaul basketball communities. Rosenberg sustained the injury while diving after a loose ball. He slammed into a DePaul player and dropped to the ground. He was on the ground for close to a half an hour and carried off in a stretcher. The scene caused spectators to fear that the diagnosis could have been considerably worse.
DePaul's Justin Crosgile matched up with Rosenberg for much of the first half. He heaped praise on his opponent. "It was a victory for us, but it didn't seem like one," Crosgile said. "We were all concerned about Jason. You can't get something like that out of your head. He was real tough on me. He's so quick. The injury opened things up for me. It gave me the opportunity to find more space. That shows what a great player he is. His absence changed the game."

1/27/09: DePaul 71, Wayne Valley 52: As expected, DePaul and Wayne Valley tipped off in front of a spirited and excited crowd at DePaul High School. DePaul won. But nobody seemed to care. Basketball took a back seat on this night.
With just over a minute left in the first half, Valley point guard Jason Rosenberg went down with what appeared to be a very serious neck injury. Rosenberg, Valley's second leading scorer and leading assist man, was diving after a lose ball. He slammed into a DePaul player and dropped to the ground. He displayed movement right away, but was on the floor for over 30 minutes while trainers for both schools were at his side. Wayne Township emergency personnel arrived quickly and carried him off in a stretcher. He was taken to the hospital. There are no reports of his condition.
"It was gut wrenching to see that happen to him," DePaul coach Bart Fazio said. "We're all, of course, hoping it's not serious. He was having a great game. Everybody wanted to see Jason go against Justin Crogile (DePaul's St. Joseph University bound guard). Jason was having a heck of a game and he had Justin pretty much shut down."
DePaul led 26-19 at the time of the injury. Rosenberg had 12 points of Valley's 19 points. Crosgile, who averages 18 points per game, had just three points at that juncture. Crosgile ended up leading DePaul with 14 points. Nick Siljee had 17 for Valley. (More Details To Come)
