Football: Ramapo 10, Wayne Valley 7, Overtime

Tim Sternfeld kicked a 19-yard field goal in overtime when undefeated Ramapo defeated Wayne Valley in Franklin Lakes. Andrew Fournier threw an interception to Mike Hronchich on Valley's overtime possession.
Alex Trani, a junior linebacker, gave Wayne Valley (2-4) a 7-0 advantage in the second period when he picked up a fumble and raced 57 yards for a touchdown and Matt Dietz added the kick. The Tyler Ward fumble was caused Kyle Fant. Ramapo tied it in the third quarter on a 1-yard sneak by quarterback Ward.
Andrew DeFilippis led Valley with 16 tackles. Trani and Anthony Verrilli added 15 and 12 respectively. Fournier threw for 68 yards.
Valley coach Brian O'Connor says that Valley can still make the playoffs if they win out, thanks to the new power point system that rewards strength of schedule. Each of Valley's opponents to date have a winning record. Winnable games vs. Passaic and West Milford, teams with losing records, are next.
"That (Valley) is one heck of a football team," Hroncich said. They came to play. We had to work hard for everything."
