A quicker pace meant increased productivity and a positive result for the Wayne Hills field hockey team.
Using a more up-tempo style, the Patriots raced to a 3-1 victory over Lakeland in the Passaic County tournament semifinals Saturday in Wayne.
"We thought we might surprise them a little if we came out as fast as possible at the start of the game," Wayne Hills coach Jenn Badami said. "It really helped us with our attack and maybe threw Lakeland off-balance a little. It definitely was the right move to make."
Junior midfielder Shanna Burchill scored from 10 feet in front off an assist from Nicole Modak to give Wayne Hills a 1-0 lead just 6:08 into the first half. Then, several minutes later, Modak slammed in a rebound with senior center/midfielder Emily Spazante picking up the assist to make it 2-0 for the Patriots. Read More
