Football: Wayne Hills 42, Paramus 17

Senior tailback Brian Dowling scored all of his team's five offensive touchdowns as Wayne Hills (5-0) remained undefeated with a 42-17 triumph over Paramus last night in Paramus. After a scoreless first period, Dowling ran in from 2 yards and kicker Mike Driesse followed with the first of his six placements.

After Paramus tied it when Joe Rizzitello grabbed a 25-yard TD toss from Villanova-bound quarterback John Robertson, Dowling retaliated with a 4-yard scoring catch from sophomore quarterback Kevin Olsen as Wayne Hills enjoyed a 14-7 lead at the half.

After Dowling rambled 32 yards for a TD in the third period, Robertson raced 21 yards to a TD for Paramus and the Bergen County squad drew to within 21-17 on a 32-yard field goal by Mike Woods at the start of the fourth stanza. But Wayne Hills left little doubt by scoring the next three touchdowns as Dowling had TD runs of 8 and 62 yards and lineman John Avedissian recovered a fumble in the end zone.
