Baseball: DePaul 2008 Season In Review

5/20/08: DePaul 12, Passaic Tech 3: Mike Pesci, Kevin Touw and A.J. Mott plated two runs apiece. Rosado Hernandez knocked in a run for PCT.

5/16/08: DePaul 13, Madison 5: Mike Pesci smacked in five runs for DePaul. Rob Duva knocked in three. Matt Carlson (4-1) picked up the win.

5/11/08: Passaic County Tournament, First Round: Matt Schall blasted a three-run home run and added a double, three RBI and two runs for Pompton. Sean Carey hit two singles and deliverd a run. Tim Lindberg had a double and two RBI for Pompton Lakes (No. 5, 10-5). Winning pitcher Mark Sarrao tossed a six-inning, six-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks. Steve Alfano hit two singles and had two RBI and Kyle Plokhoy added a home run and three RBI for DePaul (No. 12, 8-14).

5/9/08: DePaul 5, Montville 4: DePaul scored four runs in the last two innings to best Montville. Mike Pesci won the game with a one-out a walk-off home run in the seventh inning. Pesci had started the comeback rally with a triple in the sixth inning. He then scored when Anthony Mayer blasted a home run. A.J. Mott earned the win.

5/8/08: Eastern Christian 5, DePaul 4: Steve Alfano and A.J. Mott knocked in a run each.

5/7/08: Delbarton 3, DePaul 1: Rob Duva plated DePaul’s only run.

5/4/08: Pequannock 14, DePaul 1: A.J. Mott hit a home run in the second inning for DePaul (7-11). Matt Jenisch went 4-for-4 with two homers and six RBI for Pequannock (13-4).

5/1/08: DePaul 4, Butler 3: Mike Pesci, Kevin Touw and Rob Duva batted in runs for DePaul. Mike D'Amato, Eddi Marchi and Ryan McPartland had RBI for Butler.

4/30/08: DePaul 10, Wayne Valley 8: John O'Rourke keyed a decisive four-run sixth inning with a two-run single as DePaul pulled out a 10-8 victory over Wayne Valley at DePaul. Steve Alfano added three singles and scored three runs for DePaul (6-10). Matt Carlson picked up the victory in relief. Mike Pesci and Rob Duva had two RBI apiece. A.J. Mott, Joe Gannon and Andrew Dittano also knocked in runs.

Derrick Bligh slugged a two-run homer for Wayne Valley (7-7). Jesse Dulhagen also knocked in two runs. Marcus Virgilito and Max Saeman had two RBI apiece.

4/24/08: Lakeland 7, DePaul 6: Brian Washburn put down a suicide-squeeze bunt with one out in the bottom of the seventh, scoring pinch-runner Jon Allard to give Lakeland the victory. Brad Smith pitched two innings of one-hit, scoreless relief to win it for Lakeland (3-8). Kyle Plokhoy hit a solo homer for DePaul (4-10).

4/18/08: DePaul 13, Queen of Peace 4: Kyle Plokhoy and Mike Pesci hit two home runs apiece for DePaul (3-7). Plokhoy finished with five RBI for DePaul to back winning piecher Matt Carlson. Dom Maurillo homered for Queen of Peace (4-5).

4/17/08: Montville 5, DePaul 3: Kyle Plokhoy batted in two runs for DePaul. Rob Duva also had an RBI.
4/15/08: Delbarton 7, DePaul 6: A.J. Mott and Steve Alfano knocked in two runs apiece for DePaul.

4/13/08: Montclair Kimberly 8, DePaul 7: Kevin Touw and Rob Duva knocked in two runs each for DePaul (2-5).

4/12/08: Pequannock 16, DePaul 0: Ryan Maloney batted in four runs for Pequannock (6-0). Matt Jenisch hit in two runs. Sal DeVito recorded the wn.

4/10/08: Butler 11, DePaul 10: Fitzpatrick had four RBI and Julianno had two RBI as Butler won. A.J. Mott smacked in five runs for DePaul. Joe Gannon knocked in two. Patrick Kenion picked up the win for Butler. DePaul baseball photos

4/9/08: Millburn 6, DePaul 4: Steve Alfano had two RBI in the loss. A.J. Mott and Kevin Touw knocked in runs as well.

4/9/08 DePaul 6, West Milford 3: Tom Cammarata, in his first varsity start, pitched a three-hitter, striking out two and walking none in five innings. He also smashed a solo home run. Cammarata homered in the fifth inning and Steve Alfano followed with another homer as DePaul (2-1) grabbed a 6-2 lead. Mike Pesci added two RBI. West Milford is 2-2.



4/4/08: DePaul 4, Lakeland 2: Kevin Touw went 3-for-3 and knocked in three runs to pace DePaul (1-1). Mike Pesci drilled on solo-homerun. Matt Carlson surrendered just four hits and fanned seven Lakeland batters. DePaul (1-1) had eight hits. Mike Gibbons doubled for Lakeland (0-2).

4/3/08: Passaic Valley 3, DePaul 2: Joe Wassel singled home Steven Coral with the second run in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the opener for Passaic Valley. PV's Charles Fletcher had just drawn a bases loaded walk to tie the score 2-2. Winner Dan Alcala pitched a complete game allowing nine hits, striking out nine and walking one. Chris Grecco homered in PV's first run.

DePaul's Mike Pesci struck out 10 PV batters. Rob Duva and Kyle Plokhoy knocked in DePaul's runs.
