Football: Wayne Hills 44, Tenafly 7

Justin Hogan rushed for two touchdowns and scored another on an interception return and Justin DeGroat threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Wayne Hills to a 44-7 victory over Tenafly.

Brian Berges' 30-yard punt return and an 8-yard run by Hogan enabled Wayne Hills to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Tenafly answered with Chris Hammersma's 35-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14-7.

Hogan bolted 2 yards, Wayne Hills registered a safety when Tenafly snapped the ball out of the end zone and DeGroat broke off a 45-yard run to stake Wayne Hills to a 30-7 halftime lead. Hogan picked off a pass and went 17 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and DeGroat lofted a 28-yard scoring pass to Joey Kenny to close out the scoring for Wayne Hills.
