Football: Wayne Hills: 36. Ramapo 14

Last night's game between Wayne Hills-Ramapo was heavily hyped as a Clash of the Titans. But what actually transpired was anything but. Wayne Hills (8-0) badly outclassed Ramapo (7-1). Brian Dowling set a school single-game record for carries with 46 and churned out 324 yards and three touchdowns and returned an interception for a TD. Jason Avidissian and Jake Schunke led the offensive line in paving the way.

"What those guys do is behind the scenes," Dowling said. "People don't see that. They see the running back and the quarterback. This offensive line is a new offensive line and I give them all the credit."

"It's amazing to block for Brian," said Schunke. "We watched film. We knew everything (Ramapo) was going to do."

Hills also scored when Troy Zaffino caught a 6 yard touchdown pass from Kevin Olsen. Tyler Ward threw to Tyler Speziale and Doug Norkett for Ramapo.

The win gives Wayne Hills its fourth straight No. 1 seed in the Section I, Group III playoffs. It's also the team's eighth No. 1 seed in 12 years (1998, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010). Hills might host Wayne Valley in the first round. Official brackets won't be announced until next week. Photos to come.
