The No. 3 Patriots opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run for a 20-10 lead and never let the margin fall below five. Playing a tad sloppy, they allowed the No. 11 Lions to pull within 49-44. Justin Hodge scored 10 of his team-high 17 in the fourth to seal the win.
“I’m leaving here not happy with the way we played,” Wayne Hills coach Kevin Grimes said. “I’m actually a little disappointed.”
“We gave them an advantage in the beginning, didn’t play hard in the beginning,” said Paterson Charter coach Jerry Wimberly. “And then at the end we had to fight to come back, to get back in it with a good team, and they’re very good.”
