Baseball: Passaic Valley 12, Wayne Valley 3

Jake Anderson, Mike Cornell, and Manuel Espinal knocked in the runs for Wayne Valley. Chris Santaniello went 3-for-3. John Anthony Pizzi tripled and Mike LoPresti doubled.

Brian Stanton went 3-for-4 with three runs, a double and a triple and Michael Smith was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI for Passaic Valley. Alex Lux had a two-run double for Passaic Valley. Kevin McCabe also had two RBI. Tom Trotto picked up the victory for Passaic Valley, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits with a strikeout and two walks.

Former Wayne Valley Football Player Pantale Signs With Jets


The Jets clearly aren't comfortable with their tight end situation, having added two undrafted free agents at the position already. In adding Boston College's Chris Pantale, they added another big-bodied tight end at 6'5" and 254 pounds.

Baseball: Wayne Hills 9, Ramapo 5

Erik Moskal struck out 9 Ramapo batter and surrendered just three hits for Hills (8-7). Cristian Rodriguez homered, doubled and plated two runs. Josh Cote had three hits and an RBI. Mark Imbimbo had two hits. Moskal and Connor Michel also had hits.

Baseball: Wayne Valley Goes 2-3 This Past Week

Bloomfield 3, Wayne Valley 0: Mike Cornell, Mike Elia and Eric Van Assen had hits for Valley (12-3).

Wayne Valley 9, Passaic Valley 5: Matt Marks had two RBI and two runs as Wayne Valley rallied from three runs down to defeat Passaic Valley, 9-5, in Wayne.

Trailing, 5-1, Wayne Valley scored two in the fourth and then tied it in the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice from Marks. Chris Santaniello and Dan Wronka then scored on an error to take the lead for good. Matt Rugel (2-for-2, two runs) and Santaniello (3-for-4) added RBI doubles in the sixth, allowing Wayne Valley to pull away.

Ian Hanley was 2-for-4 with two RBI for Passaic Valley. Tom Trotto went 2-for-4 with two runs and Anthony DeGrote was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Wayne Valley 11, West Milford 6: Anthony Simone was 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and three doubles to power Wayne Valley to an 11-6 victory over West Milford in West Milford.

John Anthony Pizzi had four runs as he went 2-for-2 with two walks for Wayne Valley. Vin Gleason added three RBI and Mike Cornell was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

West Milford's Liam Stewart was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Connor Maupai went 3-for-5 with a run and Harry Van Dyke had two RBI.

Baseball: Wayne Hills 2, Clifton 1



Hills bounced back from the defeat to St. Joes, by topping Clifton two days later, 2-1. Rowe was 4-for-4 with two doubles.  Josh Cote and Paladino had runs for Wayne Hills.
Nick Falzarano allowed one run, two hits and three walks with six strikeouts in eight innings for Wayne Hills. Zack Kaye pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the victory.

Baseball: Wayne Valley 7, Fair Lawn 3



Valley wasted no time rebounding from the Montville loss, beating Fair Lawn two days later, 7-3. Mike Cornell homered and knocked in five runs. Matt Rugel added an RBI. Chris Santaniello doubled. Vin Gleason earned the win.

Baseball: St. Joseph's Pro Prospect Rob Kaminsky works out of trouble against Wayne Hills

Wayne Hills, which entered the game on a six-game winning streak, took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when a hit, walk and Rob Kaminsky's throwing error on a sacrifice bunt loaded the bases. Kaminsky then hit Mike Palladino to bring home Brennan Rowe for an unearned run with one out.

From that point on, Kaminsky demonstrated the physical gifts that come with being a likely first-round Major League draft pick in leading St. Joseph past Wayne Hills.

Baseball: Wayne Hills 10, Bergen Tech 9

Chris Franco's three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning put Wayne Hills (6-4) in front for good as it defeated Bergen Tech, 10-9, in Wayne. Mike Paladino and Cristian Rodriguez had three hits apiece for Wayne Hills. Marc Imbimbo and Erik Mostkal each had two RBI and Mike Abate was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Baseball: DePaul 6, Eastside 1

Joe Cirillo tossed a complete game two-hitter in DePaul's 6-1 victory over Paterson Eastside in Paterson. Cirillo struck out two with one walk for DePaul. Mike Kelly was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Jon Budesa tripled twice with two runs and an RBI. Michael Struck had two runs.

Baseball: Wayne Valley 3, Clifton 0

Danny Wronka, Mike Cornell and John Anthony Pizzi batted in Valley's runs. Chris Santaniello doubled. Mike D'Amato picked up the win. Valley is now 9-1.

Eric Van Assen had five RBI, including a two-run home run in the third inning, to lead Wayne Valley to a 16-2 over Passaic Tech in Wayne. Mike Cornell had a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Anthony Simone added a two-run blast in the fifth inning for Wayne Valley. Mike Elia double twice and knocked in two runs. Baseball: Wayne Valley 15, Bergen Catholic 5

Matt Rugel hit two home runs as he went 3-for-4 with two runs to power Wayne Valley to a 15-5 victory over Bergen Catholic. Rugel's three-run home highlighted a seven-run fourth inning for Wayne Valley. Mike Elia led off the fifth inning with a solo home run and Anthony Simone added a three-run home run. Winning pitcher Jake Anderson allowed five runs (three earned), six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Baseball: Wayne Valley breaks out the bats against Lakeland

Mike D'Amato's teammates finally gave the Wayne Valley senior left-hander the type of run support Wednesday he has long sought. D'Amato often joked with teammates about them scoring so few runs during his starts, but they scored two apiece in the third and fourth innings and added three more in sixth during Wayne Valley's 7-1 win against Lakeland.

Baseball: Wayne Valley 6, Wayne Hills 2



Vin Gleason pitched a complete game, giving up just one earned run for Wayne Valley (4-1). He struck out four and only walked one. He helped his cause by going 3-for-4 from the plate, with a double, two RBI’s and one run scored.

Chris Santaniello was also 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Anthony Simone had a hit and scored two runs.

Mike Cornell and Danny Wronka both had one hit and an RBI. Matt Rugel and John Anthony Pizzi also had hits.

"It's easy going out to the mound, knowing that our team's going to produce runs,” Gleason said. “Our whole team can hit now. Everybody has a year under their belt, everybody's been seeing the ball well, and we're looking good."

Erik Moskal struck out 8 batters for Wayne Hills. Josh Cote had 2 hits and scored a run. Moskal had 1 hit and scored a run. Jesse Freeman knocked in a run. Cristian Rodriguez, Connor Michele and Marc Imbimbo had hits.
