Pompton Lakes lost in the state Group 1 baseball final for the second straight year Sunday.
Central
Group 1 champion Middlesex scored five times in the top of the second
and maintained the lead throughout the rest of the game to defeat Pompton Lakes,
9-5, at Toms River South. Senior second baseman Sean Lindberg went
2-for-3 and had four RBI for Pompton Lakes, including a two-run homer in
the first that gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead and a two-run single in
the sixth that trimmed the Blue Jays' lead to 8-5.
