When a DePaul assistant asked Ryan Hagen in the fourth quarter why
freshman guard Jordan Thomas was still on the court in such a big spot,
the first-year head coach simply didn't respond.
Instead of finishing the game seated on the bench, Thomas stayed in and
would leave the court sitting on the shoulders of his teammates. Thomas received the hero's exit after his half-court shot at the buzzer
gave second-seeded DePaul a stunning 59-56 overtime victory over
top-seeded Paterson Eastside, ranked No. 11 in The Star-Ledger Top 20,
in the Passaic County Tournament final yesterday at Wayne Valley.
