Football: Wayne Valley 41, Passaic Valley 6

Luke Primerano threw for 167 yards, including a 51 yard touchdown pass to Anthony Biondi, to lead Wayne Valley (4-0). The senior also tacked on 41 rushing yards.

Anthony Landberg ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns (1 & 5 yards). Alan Yennie and Billy Crank ran for touchdowns. James Clarke recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for another score. Biondi finished with 3 catches for 84 yards. Dave Drozjock had four catches for 67 yards. Christian Gilberti booted five extra points.

Both Pavle Knezevic and Elvis Romero had 8 tackles, including 2 sacks. Justin Walker had 7 tackles, including 1 sack. Frank Law had 6 tackles, including 1 sack. Andrew Monteyne added 6 tackles.

“I thought we played with intensity and both our (offensive and defensive) lines were awesome," Landberg said. "Without them, we wouldn’t be the team we are. They were blowing people off the ball all day.”

The lone bright spot for Passaic Valley came after a sack by Michael Melegrano forced a punt and Cesar Concepcion came through the line to block the kick. Concepcion recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, but the PAT attempt hit the upright and the Indians maintained a one-point lead.

Next Friday night Valley travels to Franklin Lakes to play Ramapo, which has outscored its four opponents by an 159-34 margin. It will be a battle of the unbeatens.

“We know we’re a really good team, but we want to find out just how good we are next Friday,” said Romero. “We played really well today, but we still feel our best game is yet to come.”
