Seven Wayne Hills football players sentenced to probation

Seven Wayne Hills High School football players who were charged with aggravated assault in a criminal case that seized the township’s attention for weeks last fall each were sentenced to probation, a state courts official said. The seven players, all minors at the time of the alleged beating of two teenagers, were among nine Wayne Hills students at the center of a roaring controversy that divided residents and football fans, and moved school officials to force an iconic coach to choose between leading the team and a keeping a higher-paid administrative post.
