Football: Wayne Valley 10, Passaic Valley 7



Alex Trani scored on a 30-yard run in the second quarter as Wayne Valley hung on to a 10-7 victory over Passaic Valley yesterday in Wayne. Trani also kicked a field goal for Valley. Nick Gildea broke up a Passaic Valley pass at the goal line on PV's final drive. A last second PV field goal attempt fell short. Dean Pezzino scored from one yard out for Passaic Valley (0-1) in the second quarter.



Starting quarterback Mike Eckrote threw for 80 yards, completing passes to five different teammates – Trani, Gildea, Luke Primerano, Gary Choka and Andrew Monteyne.
Three Valley runners combined for 127 yards. Trani gained a team-high 59 yards. Sophomore’s Anthony Landberg and Anthony Duncan had 36 and 24 yards respectively.


Trani led the defense with 12 tackles. Zach McKay added 9 tackles. Choka and Christian Gilberti had 8 tackles apiece. Primerano and Frank Law had 7 tackles apiece. Trani and James Dahdouh both had sacks.


Pezzino paced PV with 121 passing yards. Angel Rivera rushed for 66 yards. Evan Cousins had 6 cathces for 48 yards. Nick Andriani led the defesen with 9 tackels. David Cruz had severn takcles
