Softball: Passaic County Tournament Wayne Roundups

DEPAUL 20, MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS 1 (at Wayne): Victoria D’Addario drove in three runs with a homer and a triple, and Christina Martinez and Ashley LaGuardia also drove in three as the second-seeded Spartans scored 16 runs in the first inning and cruised into the quarterfinals with their ninth win of the season.

WAYNE HILLS 15, KENNEDY 0 (at Wayne): The top-seeded Patriots banged out 13 hits, taking early control with 11 runs in the first inning against No. 16 Kennedy. Jamie Pospishil led the way with three RBI while five others each drove in two. Erica Wills didn’t allow a hit and struck out six in three innings

WAYNE VALLEY 4, HAWTHORNE 3 (at Wayne): Holly Berthold ripped a two-run single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth as the eighth-seeded Indians battled back from a 3-0 deficit to advance to the quarterfinals against top-seeded Wayne Hills. Katrina Stapleton and Jackie Billy hit back-to-back singles to start the sixth, and Berthold followed with the winning hit.
