The Wayne Valley wrestling team won its second-straight District 4 team title this past weekend and advanced a total of 11 wrestlers into the competitive Region I Tournament that got underway this past Tuesday at Wallkill Valley. The Indians had two individual champions, four silver medalists and five third-place finishers to edge runner-up Pequannock, 184-183.5. Pompton Lakes (115) took third and DePaul (99.5) finished fourth respectively.
Jake Caposela repeated as champion when he edged West Milford’s Evan Poole, 8-6 at 135. His teammate Jeff Nicholls blanked Pompton Lakes’ Mike Felicetta, 4-0 for the 119-pound title. Read More
