Northern Highlands Boys Basketball Christmas Tournament: Northern Highlands 62, Wayne Valley 61

Casey Diestel connected on a 3-pointer with seven seconds left to lift Northern Highlands past Wayne Valley (3-1). The Highlanders overcame a 10-point deficit in the final four minutes. Center Brandon Bovino led Northern Highlands with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks.

“We recognized that they were collapsing on Brandon,” Northern Highlands coach Mike Stone said. “That opened things for Diestel outside and he capitalized by hitting several three-pointers."

Deistel finished with a career high 15 points. Jason Rosenberg had 20 points and 13 assists for Wayne Valley. Keith Greve and Nick Siljee added 14 and 11 points respectively. Tom Larranaga added 9 points. Greve, Siljee and Mark Tucker had 5 rebounds each. Larranaga had 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
