It was not your average pep rally that took place in the gymnasium of DePaul Catholic High School last Tuesday afternoon. Sure, there were star athletes and cheerleaders and hundreds of students cheering for a successful fall season for their Spartans. But this assembly had a bit more sizzle than a typical prep assembly. Helping to pack the room were representatives of the United States Army, reporters from outlets both local and national, and a decorative arrangement of paraphernalia dedicated to the celebration of Spartans wide receiver Shakim Phillips, who was official admitted into the U.S. Army All-American Bowl scheduled for January 9, 2010 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
