Football: Wayne Hills 42, West Essex 7

Brian Dowling rushed 16 times for 124 yards and scored the Patriots’ first five touchdowns. His scores were highlighted by a 32-yard run and a 64-yard reception from Mike Quinn. Place-kicker Tim Divers was perfect on six PAT attempts.

"Brian’s a great player. When he runs at full speed, he’s very effective,” said Wayne Hills coach Chris Olsen. “There aren’t many positions on this football team that he can’t play.”

The victory extended the Patriots’ winning streak to 53 games, which includes five straight sectional titles. They could break the State record of 63 — set by Paulsboro in 1998 — by going 12-0 this season.
