3/5/09: Section I, Group III Quarterfinals: West Milford 62, Wayne Hills 60: Rob Nylund, who finished with a team-high 18 points, connected on a 3-point basket with 57 seconds remaining to give West Milford (No. 5, 19-6) the victory. Trailing, 59-54, after a steal and layup by Nylund, Wayne Hills (No. 4, 19-8) scored the next six points to take a 60-59 led with 1:26 left. It was its first lead since going in front, 4-3, in the first quarter.
In that 6-0 run, Joe Russo hit two of three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point try. Steve Lequerica followed with a jumper and Chris Fonti, put in a layup for 60-59 edge. But Wayne Hills turned the ball over on its next two possessions with offensive fouls. The second turnover preceded the winning shot by Nylund.
Chad Houser tallied 16 points and Chris Thompson came off the bench to score nine points and grab nine rebounds. Lequerica scored a game-high 19 points. Russo followed with 17 points and 13 boards for Wayne Hills. Fonti had 10 points. Justin Hourihan had 6 points.
2/27/09: Wayne Hills 72, Delbarton 70: Steve Lequerica led the way with 26 points. Joe Russo and Chris Fonti had 17 and 13 points respectively. Matt Heskin added 9 points.
2/24/09: Wayne Hills 65, Vernon 61: Steve Lequerica and Chirs Fonti had 21 and 19 points respectively to lead Hills (18-6). Joe Russo added 16 points.
2/21/09: Wayne Hills 87, Clifton 60: Steve Lequerica had 23 points for Hills (16-7). Chris Fonti added 17. Joe Russo had 15 and Travis DellaVolpe had 10.
2/18/09: Pasckack Hills 62, Wayne Hills 55: Joe Russo had 25 points, but Hills still lost to unbeaten Paskack Hills

2/14/09: Passaic County Tournament Quarterfinals, Paterson Kennedy 60, Wayne Hills 55: Kennedy (No. 2) was able to pull away late in this back and forth tussle. Steve Lequerica led Hills (No. 7) with 20 points. Chris Fonti added 14 points. Joe Russo and Matt DeBlock had 8 and 6 points respectively. Kennedy slowed down the ball with five minutes left and was able to preserve its narrow lead. Hills fouled Kennedy several times. But the Knights hit 8-of-12 free throws down the stretch.
2/13/09: Wayne Hills 66, Indian Hills 56: Steve Lequerica had 16 points and Travis DellaVolpe had 15 to lead Hills (15-4). Justin Hourihan added 13 points. Joe Russo had 10.
2/12/09: Mahwah 53, Wayne Hills 52: Four players reached double figures for Wayne Hills (14-4), but it was not enough. Steve Lequerica led the way with 12 points. Travis DellaVolpe and Joe Russo chipped in with 12 apiece. Chris Fonti added 10. Justin Hourihan added eight points.

2/7/09: Passaic County Tournament, First Round, Wayne Hills 61, Passaic Tech 57: Wayne Hills (No. 7, 14-4) is going back to the Passaic County quarterfinals for the second straight year. They will take on Kennedy (No. 2) Saturday. Joe Russo led the way with 28 points. Travis Della Volpe had 12 points. With the game tied 57-57, Lequerica stole the ball on the press and zipped a pass to Mike Quinn. The junior laid the ball in to give Hills the lead. Lequerica stole the ball on PCT's next possession. The senior was fouled and subsequently drained two free throws. Lequerica, who was suffering flu symptoms, still managed to record eight points. Chris Fonti had eight points as well. Jon Rodriguez led PCT (No. 10, 10-7) with 20 points. Maynard Freeman chipped in with 18 points.
2/6/09: Wayne Hills 87, Demarest 58: Joe Russo led the way with 19 points. Steve Lequerica had 13 points and Mike Quinn had 12. Chris Fonti added 11. Matt Brandl chipped in with nine.
2/4/09: Wayne Hills 59, Ramapo 53, OT: Steve Lequerica had 20 points for Hills. Travis DellaVolpe had 15. Joe Russo and Justin Hourihan had 10 and 9 points respectively.
2/2/09: Immaculata 53, Wayne Hills 51: Hills lost another close one when they bowed to powerhouse Immaculata-Somerset County, 53-51. Lequerica knocked down four 3-point shots and concluded with a game-high 22 points. Joe Russo had 13 for Wayne Hills.
1/28/09: Old Tappan 52, Wayne Hills 51: Steve Lequerica had 16 points, but Hills still lost. Travis DellaVolpe had 11 points. Chris Fonti and Justin Hourihan had 9 points each.
1/24/09: Wayne Hills 58, Fair Lawn 45: Steve Lequerica helped Hills hit the 10-win mark with a 17 point effort. Travis Della Volpe and Chris Fonti chipped in with 13 points apiece. Justin Hourihan contributed eight points. Old Tappan is 10-3.

1/22/09: Wayne HIlls 82, Pascack Valley 65, By Skiffo Drake: Joe Russo eclipsed the 1,000 point mark with 17 points in an 82-65 besting of Pascack Valley.
“I didn’t really expect to score 1,000 points in high school,” Russo said. “In my junior season I started scoring a little bit more and coach told me it was in reach.”
"It's pretty special," coach Jim Catalano added. "It's one time you can say, 'Hey, I did this, rather than the team,' and it's OK. I'm real proud of him. Steve (Lequerica) did it last year, and he and Joe have both started for me for four years. The two of them have been the cornerstones of our program. They've done everything necessary to be great players.”
Lequerica led the way against PV with 23 points. Mike Quinn, Chris Fonti and Mike Brandl had 10 points apiece.

1/16/09: Wayne Hills 90, Ramsey 64: Joe Russo erupted for 24 points as Hills won in a romp. Steve Lequerica and Chris Fonti had 19 points apiece.

12/30/08: Jack Reilly Christmas Tournament, Mahwaw Beats Wayne Hills: Wayne's Joe Russo pumped in 19 points, but it was not enough as Hills (1-1) lost. Steve Lequerica chipped in with 11 points. Mike Quinn had 10.
12/23/08: Wayne Hills73, Old Tappan 70: Steve Lequerica had 26 points as Hills won its opener. Travis DellaVolpe and Joe Russo had 17 and 15 points respectively.
