Wayne Valley Win JV Boys Basketball Championship

The Wayne Valley boys basketball team defeated Kennedy to capture the Junior Varsity Passaic County Championship, 79-70. It’s Wayne Valley’s third title in the last five years. They also won it in 2015 and 2017. DePaul has hosted the tournament for the fifth straight year.

Sophomore Abdullah Diafala had a team-high 23 points. Sophomore Ameer Coubati had 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Sophomore Derek Sandowick added 18 points and 5 assists. Sophomore JaVell Green had a team-high 15 rebounds and 12 points.

The Wayne Valley varsity (16-7) will lose all five starters and the sixth man to graduation this year. Despite those heavy losses, the JV title seems to indicate that the future remains bright.
