Boys Basketball - Hills and Valley Advance To Passaic County Semifinals; Historic Weekend Ahead

Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley won their respective Passaic County Tournament quarterfinal games to advance to the semifinals. Hills (No. 1) destroyed Passaic (No. 8), 84-40. Wayne Valley (No. 4) defeated Passaic Tech (No. 5) by a comfortable margin, 64-51. This means that Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley will square off in the semifinals next weekend at Kennedy. This is the first time ever the two Wayne schools have played each other in the Passaic County Tournament.

As if that wasn't intriguing enough, Valley and Hills square off Tuesday at Hills in a regular season game. This means Valley and Hills will play each other twice in five days. Hills beat Valley earlier this season at Valley, 54-49. Both teams are enjoying outstanding seasons and, in fact, could both wind up with the best record in their respective histories. Hills is 16-3. Valley is 17-2.

As if that wasn't intriguing enough, the Passaic County Tournament is now Wayne vs. Paterson. Opposite Valley vs Hills next week will be Eastside vs. Kennedy. Check back for game times.

Valley and Hills have never won the Passaic County Tournament, which began in 1971. Valley reached the final in 2007, but lost to DePaul. Kennedy and Eastside have 11 and 10 Passaic County titles respectively. Buckle your seat belts. - Skiffo Drake
