The Wayne Little League National team won the District 2 Championship this past week by defeating West Milford in the final in Wayne, 16-12. The Wayne Little League was founded in 1958. This is the second year in a row that the team won the District crown, but only the ninth time ever (1962, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1980, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2013).
Dominic Cancellieri, John Boscarino, Jack Feit, Ari Field and Stephen Dipaola homered to lead Wayne in the championship game. Also contributing to the cause were Jarod Strus, Chris Taranto, Taylor Jackson, Chris Coleman, JP Diagostini, Danny Murphy, Zach Byle, EJ Wolf. Head coach Paul Boscarino and assistants Dan Dubois, Bob Coleman and Ed Wolf are leading the charge.
Wayne is now surging through the State Sectionals, which are being played this week in Dumont. They beat Lackawana in the first round Sunday, 7-2.After scoring their first run on a bases loaded walk in the fourth inning, Feit singled home two. The game was broken open later in the inning with a huge three-run blast by Field. Strus, Feit, and Field were 3-for-4 with six RBI.Wayne's pitching combination of Cancellieri and Stauss shut out Lackawanna, while only giving up six hits.

Next, Wayne beat Washington Township, 10-8. (Details to come).  If they win Thursday they will win the State Sectional Championship. Of Wayne’s eight district champion predecessors, only the 1970 team won the State Sectionals. That team went on to win the Little League World Series. If this year’s team wins in the Sectionals, they will have to then win the State Regionals, the State, and finally the National Regional to qualify for a trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to the Little League World Series.
