Joe Moreno caught a 22 yard pass from Dan Kowal with 40 seconds left to help DePaul avoid an opening night shutout. The 5-foot-5 Presley Beauvais ran for 153 yards and scored twice for St. Joseph's.
"Whenever he got a little crack he just bounced through it," St. Joseph Coach Tony Karcich said.
Quarterback Christian Andrews threw for 84 yards and a touchdown for St. Joseph's. DePaul's Kowal threw for 165 yards, but also threw four interceptions. Dan Foesel was DePaul’s best offensive weapon as he hauled in 7 passes for 107 yards. George Monsen had a key reception on DePaul's scoring drive.
