As far as high school football rivalries are concerned, Wayne had always been blessed with two gems. In the opinions of many, nothing beats the rivalry between Wayne Valley and Passaic Valley. The two schools have been meeting on the gridiron since 1952. The Wayne Hills-Ramapo rivalry has always been viewed in a similar light, although thanks to the NJSIAA's realignment plan, that game won't be played this year. With realignment still not complete, there is speculation that this annual tussle could be renewed in 2010. The teams could conceivably reunite in the 2009 playoffs. For most area football fans, those annual games were always considered must-sees. Wayne fans, it reasonably follows, wanted to see the Township's high school teams prevail over their neighbors.
