Danny Kowal's 25 yard touchdown pass to Dan Foesel in overtime propelled DePaul (1-1) to victory. Kowal, a wide receiver, shifted to quarterback in place of injured Dan Farley. The senior signal caller broke a finger in his throwing arm in the opening day loss to St. Joseph's. He was still able to punt. There's no immediate word on his return as a QB.
Kowal, a junior, completed nine passes for 149 yards. He also rushed for 101 yards. Foesel caught five passes for 86 yards. Fullback Jon Wozney slammed into the end zone for touchdowns of 1 and 2 yards. Shakim Phillips caught three passes for 59 yards, including a 37 yard touchdown pass from Kowal. Phillips also returned a kick for a score.
