Senior Nick Goodwin led the way with 19 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Senior Nick Giuliano added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior Alex Kokos contributed 9 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. Zarka finished with 9 points and 5 boards. Junior Elijah Beard added 6 points and 7 rebounds. Boys Basketball: Wayne Valley 59, Passaic Valley 56
Senior John Zarka suffered a high ankle sprain minutes into Wayne Valley's season-opener vs. West Milford a few weeks ago. He missed the next three games and returned to come off the bench in last week's JP Flynn Holiday Tournament championship win over West Morris. He played nearly the entire game vs. Passaic Valley tonight, but had to come out in overtime when the his lower leg appeared to bother him again. Zarka stretched his leg on the bench and was reinserted into the game with under a minute to play and the score knotted 56-56. The move worked to perfection. Zarka nailed a buzzer-beater to lift Wayne Valley (6-0) to a dramatic 59-56 win.
