Football: Olsen Wants To Keep Coaching

The Wayne Hills High School football coach who refused to suspend players arrested on aggravated assault charges says he wants to continue coaching the team after the school board’s decision not to renew his contract as athletic director. Wayne school board will not renew Wayne Hills athletic director's contract

The Wayne school board declined to renew Chris Olsen’s contract to serve as the athletic director at Wayne Hills High School on Thursday night, two months after seven of the school’s football players were sentenced to probation for their roles in the brutal beating of two teenagers. Justin Avedissian had three hits and two RBI to pace Hills. Michael Abate, Josh Cote, Chris Amato and Eric Moskal knocked in runs as well. Steve Addesso had two hits. Amato fanned six Valley batters. Joe Duncan doubled and knocked in two runs for Valley.

Baseball: Wayne Valley coming into its own

Expectations were high last season for Wayne Valley because the Indians brought back most significant contributors from a team that won the Passaic County championship in 2010.


Not nearly as much was expected of the 2012 Indians, who had to replace six position players and ace Andrew Furber from a squad that again reached the Passaic County final. But Wayne Valley has played very respectable baseball during the first three weeks of the season. Click here to read more.

Aidan Stewart wanted this win badly. West Milford lost his previous two starts
against Wayne Hills, even though the Highlanders’ senior right-hander pitched well
in both: 7-6 in 11 innings last season, and 2-0 on opening day nearly three weeks ago
when Stewart allowed only one earned run and struck out six in seven innings.
Wayne Hills managed nine hits off him Friday, but Stewart struck out nine Patriots, worked
out of jams in the first, fifth and seventh innings and finally beat them, 4-2. Click here to read more

Valley's Anthony Simone threw out a Hills baserunner at the plate for the third out of the fifth inning. Steven Adesso surrendered just four hits and fired seven strike outs for Hills. Eric Moskal led Hills with two hits. Chris Amato, Jason Avidissian and Mark Imbimbo also hit safely.

Mike Elia doubled twice. Vin Gleason picked up the win. Tommy Zaher, Jake Dericks and Vince Parrotta doubled for Pequannock.
