Boys Basketball: Wayne Valley 66, Randolph 65

The Wayne Valley basketball team needed a game. The team earned a double-bye in the Passaic County Tournament and the void in the schedule left Coach Leicht in search of a quality opponent so the team could stay on the right track. Fortunately, Morris County powerhouse Randolph was in a similar predicament, having drawn a bye in the prestigious Morris County Tournament. The two teams agreed to play an independent game. Randolph played host.

At first, it seemed like a bad idea as Wayne Valley fell behind the Morris County juggernaut by 18. Valley fought their way back and ultimately prevailed, 66-65. It was Wayne's second straight victory over a Group 4 heavyweight. Two days earlier, Valley defeated Paterson Eastside at full-strength.

Senior Alex Kokos led Valley (11-2) to the win over Randolph (11-3) with 20 points and 4 assists. Senior John Zarka added 17 points and 5 rebounds. Senior Nick Goodwin had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior Nick Giuliano had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Senior Chris Khayat had 5 points and 5 rebounds.
