(Joe Pascucci making a play at first.)

The 2014 baseball season will go down as a memorable one for Wayne Valley, but not because of its impressive 15-8 record. Two weeks ago, Valley (No. 6) was upset by Eastside (No. 11) in the first round of the Passaic County Tournament. This past week, Valley (No. 1) was shocked by Bergen Tech (No. 16, 9-14) in the first round of the Section I, Group IV playoffs. It was Bergen Tech’s first-ever State Tournament win. Mike Elia got the start for Wayne Valley and took the loss, going five innings allowing three unearned runs on five hits, walking three and striking out six.
