UPDATE: Football: Lakeland 38, Wayne Valley 31


Junior Nick Goodwin threw touchdown passes to senior Andrew Popadics (22 yards), junior Ryan Monteyne (1 yard), and sophomore Joey Scancarella (75 yards), but Wayne Valley (4-3) still lost. Junior Will Kearney added a 1 yard scoring rush.

Goodwin led Valley with 310 passing yards and 78 rushing yards. Scancarella finished with 5 catches for 114 yards. Popadics had 5 catches for 84 yards. Kearney had 8 catches for 76 yards. Monteyne had two catches.

Senior Joey DeFilippis led the defense with 12 tackles. Kearney and senior Chris McClurg had 8 tackles apiece. Junior Tyler Andreas had 6 tackles, a sack and an interception. Popadics, junior Tyler Walther, junior PJ Chak and sophomore Jake Pluta had 4 tackles apiece.

Valley's leading rusher senior Mark DeLuise suffered a high ankle sprain on the first play of the game. His status for next week is uncertain. Valley hosts Demarest (6-1) next week. Valley could sneak into the playoffs if they upset Demarest.
